Dialogue of the Carmelites

| Miscellaneous Poetry Stuff

Although I’ve been at the University of North Texas for nearly eight months now, I have only just purchased tickets to attend one of the University’s famed music productions (UNT is renowned for its College of Music and particularly for its top-ranked jazz program). I’m really looking forward to attending a performance of Poulenc’s Dialogue of the Carmelites, one of my favorite operas. For years, I’ve been writing poems about the role that opera has played in the culture of my family, two of which you can read here and here, at the Virginia Quarterly Review. And who knows? Maybe this outing will lead to a new, guillotined-themed, nunnish poem sometime soon.
