New Essay in The Colorado Review!
The Colorado Review is one of my favorite literary journals. A while back, they published one of my essays about art from a nonfiction book project, Exhibitions. The piece was called “Portrait on Metal with Patterned Scarf and Streak of Light” and was later named as a notable essay in Best American Essays. So, it was really exciting when The Colorado Review took a second piece for publication, “Provenance,” which is an essay about my family’s treasured recipe for the cake known as Sacher Torte, Klimt’s portraits of Adele Bloch-Bauer, and antisemitism. This was a really tricky piece for me to write–tricky to braid, difficult to find the balance between research and personal narrative–and I’m just so very grateful for The Colorado Review‘s continuing support of my writing.
