New Taste Essay in Poetry Northwest!

| Taste: A Book of Small Bites

For many months now, I’ve been working on a nonfiction manuscript, Taste: A Book of Small Bites. The book looks at the sweet, the sour, the bitter, the salty, and umami through an interdisciplinary lens, considering the ways that taste informs poetry and fiction, theater, film, opera, philosophy, and religion.

Taste is comprised of shorter essays and flash pieces, and I’ve recently begun to send out some of these pieces to literary journals. I’m thrilled to have one of the essays from the sour section of Taste appear now in Poetry Northwest. You can read “Sweetest Things Turned Sourest” here.
